Ojio Whole Vanilla Powder & Vanilla Beans

For more than 6 centuries, natural Vanilla Tahitiensis has provided spectacular flavoring and aroma to foods and beverages.  Whole vanilla can be ground or crushed to the consistency of fine black pepper to make delicious additions to smoothies, shakes, sautéed fish, unbaked cake recipes and, of course, home-made ice cream.  Vanilla can enhance the taste of almost any food.

There are literally thousands of recipes using vanilla beans and vanilla powder.  Some are so simple:  Add vanilla powder along with cinnamon for baking apples.  Ojio Vanilla can be used in a wide variety of recipes including coffees, smoothies, and baked goods.

Ojio Whole Vanilla Beans

Ojio dark Tahitian vanilla beans are sourced from family growers on the island of New Guinea in the South Pacific.  The Vanilla Tahitiensis variety grown there has a rich creamy flavor.  Our wildcrafted Vanilla begins with careful hand pollination of the Vanilla flower, a member of the orchid family.  When the vanilla bean is at its peak of flavor and aroma, it is harvested, cured for 2 days in special curing boxes, then gradually sun-cured for a few hours each day on ventilated drying racks.

Vanilla Tahitiensis grows year round, but the drying and curing process takes from two to six months. Ojio’s careful cycle planning insures a constant supply.
